University of Alabama basketball player Darius Miles arrested for fatal shooting of woman.

Tragic all the way around. 3 lives are over, one is lost.

Darius Miles was out with his friend when they got into an altercation with the young woman and her friend.

The young man who was with the woman, Jamea Janae Harris mother of 1, fired shots from the car while Darius Miles or his friend fired shots back. The woman was struck and killed while one of one the other party was struck and injured. It has not been released if it was Darius or his friend who was injured.

Whether he was the one who fired tue shots or not, he will be on trial for capital murder.

This is an age group that I work with and worry about the most. Life is just starting, the sky is the limit. Both parties are out at almost 2:00 a.m., strapped.

I am all for someone having the right to bear arms and protect themselves, but the first line of defense is prevention and being able to deescalate. Again we are still waiting for more details to come out, so I don't know exactly what happened in this situation.
