Colorado woman who admits to having sex with 13-year-old and having his baby won’t face jail time under plea deal.
When I make these self defense post I make half of these for the parents. I am at an age where my kids range from being graduated from high school all the way to elementary. All kids will face their problems and we as adults are here to support them through the ups and downs.
In this situation one of the adults (31 years old) took advantage of a 13 year old. She was in a mentorship role to this young man to where he even called her "mom" at times. To protect the identity of the young man they are not saying if this was his teacher or what the exact relationship she had to the family.
75% of sexual assaults happen from someone who is acquainted with the victim. This woman was able to have sex with a 13 year old, have his baby, and serve no jail time. This young man is suffering from all types of depression issues according to the mom. She will be on some type of strict probation where she has to register as a sex offender and all of that jazz. But as a grandparent I would have hard time trying to visit my grandbaby. I would not be able to deal with her for real.
The family is petitioning for custody but I'm guessing as long as she behaves herself the courts/government will continue to protect her. This went down in Colorado. I am not speaking for against Colorado but I always like to mention where these things go down and how differently the system will punishes people based on where they are.
Lastly I will say if this was a 31 year old man impregnating a 13 year girl he would already be under the jail (as he should). But why is it so different?
